All pieces of Mimotho jewelry are made of 925 sterling silver or 14ct white, rose or yellow gold, exclusively made according to our designs. They are either left pure or with rhodium coating (specifications are written next to each product). The black edition jewelry is coated with black rhodium or noirit coating.
Over time and use the jewelry pieces change. Polished surfaces become more matt and matt surfaces become shinier. The durability of these surfaces depends on the handling, storage, and care of the jewelry.
To make your jewelry last as long as possible, we recommend avoiding contact with any detergents or household cleaning products. Contact with cosmetic products, chemical agents, or perfume should generally be avoided too. It is advisable to take off the jewelry while exercising, visiting the sauna, staying at the beach or at the pool, bathing, and showering. Rubbing the products with any abrasive materials can also damage the surface of the jewelry piece.
When the jewelry is not treated, the precious metal takes on a patina over time, so the color can slightly change, depending on your skin pH, usage, even the weather, and humidity condition.
- You can clean your silver pieces with a mild soap and water solution, allowing the water to bead up, and then patting dry with a soft cloth.
- Store your jewelry pieces individually in a cool, dry place, in a tarnish-preventive bag, or wrapped in a soft piece of felt or cloth. The Mimotho jewelry box also includes a soft pouch that is perfect for storage.
- Rub your jewelry with a polishing cloth. Any other materials like tissue paper or paper towels can cause scratches because of the fibers in these products.
